Noongar rights activist William Harris was a prominent figure in the resistance against the racist and oppressive policies of the WA Government. He campaigned against the 1905 Act from its inception and formed the Native Union in 1926. William Harris played a significant public role in advocating for Aboriginal rights and conditions with his tireless community leadership, campaigning in the press and lobbying politicians.
